Well done to both of our teams with regards to the 2007 season. The 1st team gained promotion to Division 3 actually gaining the most points in all divisions, this was due in some part to a willingness and a want to play the game if at all possible. As important as this the 2nd team also had what can be considered an excellent and succesful first season. Herbie put a lot of work into the organisation of the team along with Gally Snr! The 2nds provided the opportunity for many new and young members of the club to get experience of the fun and competitiveness that league cricket can provide. The club ended up mid table, seemingly beating the high flyers in the league and losing to the lower teams, this was due in part to the rotation system employed so that all had the chance to play during the season. Particular congratulations go to Jamie Hancock who managed to win the Division 5 batting award, WELL DONE.
Next season the 1st and 2nd teams will become a much closer unit and club, at times it felt like 2 seperate clubs this season, due in part to the AGM decision last year where the 2nds were told that they had to prove they could manage themselves first before we became properly united. This season the club will feel much more united and there will be more fluidity between the teams and more opportunities for those who deserve a chance in the first team to get that chance, as well as this there should also be the opportunity for those to step down a division or two to gain some form.
We have just had our AGM and the minutes can be found in the 'NEWS' section, as well as my 'Captain's report'.
